This presentation demonstrates how automated shift planning significantly relieves planning managers. Instead of manually weighing numerous, sometimes contradictory criteria, this task is handed over to a clearly defined optimization process. Using practical examples from industry, logistics, and retail, it will be explained how algorithms simultaneously consider compliance with labor laws, individual availabilities, and the optimization of time balances. Additionally, attendance requirements and necessary employee qualifications are systematically checked. The focus is on how a nearly perfect shift plan can be generated through the targeted weighting of these factors: transparent, comprehensible, and reproducible.
