Future Skills: BLT Boosts Learning for 600 Employees
BLT (Baselland Transport AG) debunks the myth that public transport companies are old-fashioned and dusty. Under the motto 'We move forward,' the organization relies on a clear set of values strategically anchored by the new management – forming the basis for genuine progress today.
In this keynote, the project team demonstrates how a public transport company with shift operations, decentralized work assignments, and a high proportion of operational specialists develops a common culture: using simple, pragmatic, and effective tools, ranging from a value-based competency model, derived leadership principles, and a new leadership program, to the fundamentally re-imagined physical and digital BLT campus.
At the core are team spirit, innovation, passion, implementation strength, and customer enthusiasm – values that have shaped BLT for many years, are tangible in daily operations, and provide guidance to all employees. Central to the development of this living value culture, which has been undergoing modernization for several years, is 'Vorwärtszeit' (Forward Time): All employees receive one hour of learning time per week to purposefully develop themselves and the organization and to build future skills. With this, BLT achieves something that previously seemed almost impossible in the industry – a structured learning environment amidst shift operations that mobilizes the entire organization.
