Standards vs. Freedoms: Global Standards Break Local Hearts

Company-wide HR standards create comparability, scalability, and efficient maintenance. Local freedoms bring strategic advantages, acceptance, and room for local needs. The core conflict of many HR organizations is wanting both at the same time.

Our panel discussion will shed light on precisely this area of tension. Not as an either/or situation, but as a constant balancing act. Where does HR need clear guidelines? Where does freedom make sense? And where do both become a problem? HR and HR IT managers from Swiss companies will openly discuss how they deal with conflicting requirements. On stage, Michael Geisser, Senior Program/Project Manager at the Office for Information Technology of the Canton of Zurich, Arianne Hasler, Chief People & Culture at Galenica AG, and Michael Müller, Head of Human Resources Switzerland at Komax AG, will share their experiences.

The discussion explores which standards were deliberately implemented, even when challenging. It examines where local autonomy was defended, despite creating complexity, and the consequences of these decisions. While the discussion doesn't offer simple answers, it provides valuable guidance for all who must navigate HR between aspiration and practical feasibility.
